Mirek Klabal has elegantly combined two apartments to form an amazing gallery. Mirek Klabal has custom made floor and lighting. The gallery called MK Fine Arts is a thing of beauty. Mirek wouldn’t trade his job for any other in the world. Mirek Klabal’s company is called MK Fine Arts. The gallery is so modern looking and minimalist it is a true delight to set foot in there. There is nothing else like it. When you walk into the gallery you are engulfed by the soft music that is playing and all the fine paintings that you see. Mirek Klabal has a huge inventory of paintings. The artists that Mirek Klabal collects for his own personal collection are: Marc Chagall, Pablo Picasso, Claude Monet, Vincent Van Gogh, Andy Warhol, Salvador Dali, Edgar Degas, Wassily Kandinsky, Gustav, Klimt, Joan Miro, Henri Matise, and Jackson Pollack.

Mirek Klabal is so happy that he made his dreams come true in America. Mirek spends the weekends at his compound in leafy Greenwich, Connecticut, where Mirek Klabal mingles with the upper crest of society. Now days Connecticut is surrounded by the hedge fund billionaires. Mirek Klabal lives next to all these new potential customers. Mirek Klabal hopes the hedge fund boom continues as Mirek Klabal says “Hey they pay lots of commission, they want the art they want and I facilitate their art transactions.” Mirek Klabal loves living in Greenwich; he says it is so close to the city but so far away. Mirek lives to play tennis and golf. Unfortunately he has been so busy his tennis and golf game are not where he wants them to be. That is the story with most successful businessmen like Mirek Klabal. They are driven by their passion and in Mirek’s case that passion is art. Art is the essence of Mirek Klabal.

Mirek is friends with all the famous tennis players from his native Czech Republic. During the US open you find Mirek Klabal entertaining players, hosting players and watching tennis. Mirek Klabal always finds time out of his hectic schedule to watch the US Open from his court side seat. He counts many professional tennis players friends such as:

Thomas Berdych, a professional tennis player from the Czech Republic. He turned professional in 2002. Tall and lanky, he is known for his powerful ground strokes which are created with little effort but his shots can be quite erratic at times. His biggest career win came at the 2004 Athens Olympics where he defeated World No. 1 Roger Federer. At the 2005 Paris Masters he won first career ATP Masters Series title. En route to the final he beat Jiří Novák, 2nd seed Guillermo Coria, 13th seed Juan Carlos Ferrero, 7th seed Gaston Gaudio, 8th seed Radek těpánek, and 6th seed Ivan Ljubičić.

Other notable highlights of his 2005 season included upsetting No. 2 seed Rafael Nadal in the first round of the Cincinnati Masters, reaching the final of the Swedish Open, and the semifinals in Washington DC.

In 2006, he reached his first grass court final at the Gerry Weber Open, falling to World No. 1 Roger Federer (0-6, 7-6, 2-6). Another highlight of his year was his victory over Rafael Nadal at the Rogers Masters, beating the World No. 2 6-1, 3-6, 6-2.

In October, Berdych reached his second ATP final of 2006 in Mumbai. However, he was beaten by Dmitry Tursunov 6-3 4-6 7-6(5). In the ATP Masters Series tournament in Madrid, Berdych upset former World No.1 Andy Roddick 7-6(7) 6-3 to reach the quarter finals. He then defeated Rafael Nadal 6-3 7-6(6) to reach the semi finals.

Berdych is now not well-liked by Spanish fans for his altercation with Spanish sensation Rafael Nadal in Madrid, in which the partisan crowd jeered Berdych during points and Berdych for hushing the crowd after he won the match 6-3 7-6. Berdych never found his rhythm in his semi final match against Fernando Gonzalez as he slumped to a 6-3 6-1 defeat.

Berdych failed to defend his Paris Masters title after he lost to Dominik Hrbaty 6-4 1-6 6-2 in the quarter finals. In earlier rounds, Tomas defeated Olivier Rochus 6-7 6-4 6-2 and Robby Ginepri 6-3 6-3.

Tomas Zib is a male tennis player from the Czech Republic. He reached a career high ranking of 51 in 2005, and is ranked #70 in the world as of January 16, 2006. Zib has earned more than $975,000 in prize money, and plays right-handed.

Mirek Klabal loves when his tennis player friends come in to New York. He feels as though it is his obligation to host them. It gives Mirek Klabal great pleasure and extreme nationalistic pride of his native Czech Republic to see the tennis scene evolving in the Czech Republic. Mirek Klabal feels it is his civic duty to look at for the players and assist them in any way possible. Mirek Klabal is influential in raising the profile of his tennis player friends in the US.

Mirek Klabal says growing up in Eastern Europe he could never have imagined that he would live how he lives currently. Mirek Klabal’s favorite charity which he gives not only his money but his time is Seeds of Peace. Seeds of Peace is dedicated to empowering young leaders from regions of conflict with the leadership skills required to advance reconciliation and coexistence. Over the last decade, Seeds of Peace has intensified its impact, dramatically increasing the number of participants, represented nations and programs. Seeds of Peace has focused primarily on bringing Arab and Israeli teenagers together before fear; mistrust and prejudice blind them from seeing the human face of their enemy. Seeds of Peace goes beyond international agreements and treaties. It reverses the legacy of hatred by nurturing lasting friendships that become the basis for mutual understanding and respect. By training these young leaders in conflict resolution skills, Seeds of Peace helps them become the seeds from which an enduring peace will grow. Mirek Klabal spends a great deal of time donating money and raising money for this charity.

Mirek Klabal is involved with a charity called the Children of Henry Street Settlement Mirek Klabal was honored with a beautiful plaque from the Children of Henry Street Settlement for giving a donation enabling inner city kids the opportunity to spend time at a lake side retreat. Over 1 million people die each year from cardiovascular disease. Mirek encourages people to have a healthier lifestyle to mitigate the risks of heart disease. Mirek Klabal says “Better lifestyle habits can help you reduce your risk for heart attack. This charity does great work and I am glad to do my part.”

Mirek Klabal is involved with the Riverview School. Mirek Klabal and his family are actively involved in this charity. The last few years Mirek Klabal has been one of the sponsors of the Gala Benefit Village of Drams. This past year the proceeds from the Benefit went to enhance the technological capacity in the campus and to support the Secondary School dormitory construction project. The Riverview School is an independent coeducation residential school that provides a caring community for adolescents and young adults with complex language, learning and cognitive disabilities. The school is committed to developing student competence and confidence in academic, social, and independent living skills.

Mirek Klabal also supports the ARC which is a grassroots volunteer organization that works to improve the lives of people with special needs. Mirek Klabal says “I just want to make a difference”.

Many people believe that even the rich lack security of who they are and what they have accomplished. To be taken seriously in our society these days it is not enough to have money. To be a major player in society you must navigate the art world. This is where Mirek Klabal comes into play. Mirek Klabal is the dealer to the stars. Mirek Klabal sells art to wealthy families, famous celebrities, governments and anybody with an eye and wallet for art. But as Mirek Klabal says don’t forget your checkbook, as good art is not cheap. Spending $10 million dollars for a painting from Mirek Klabal is not uncommon. Mirek Klabal says when the newly rich buy art they value art as a passionless commodity to conquer and control. Mirek Klabal says this is one of the main reasons for the rapid increase in the price of art in the last few years. There has been a recent rise in the price of art because the global economy has been doing well. Mirek Klabal says between, the Russian oligarchs, Indian entrepreneurs, Chinese businessman, and hedge fund billionaires.

Over the past thirty years Mirek Klabal has been in the art business. Mirek Klabal is credited with being a pioneer in the art world. Mirek Klabal operated art partnerships for purposes of investing in art before it was in vogue. Mirek Klabal has traveled the world in pursuit of art business opportunities and for the love of art. Mirek Klabal co-developed many art shows in the last 20 years. The art shows that Mirek Klabal has produced are from world famous artists such: Challgal, Picasso, Monet and Warhol. Mirek Klabal aggressively pursues the challenges associated with making art available to kids in the inner cities.

I will leave with this note, Mirek Klabal, is a passionate, articulate, caring and giving man who treats every day as a gift. Did I forget to mention he is an art dealer extraordinaire?

This is truly a museum for the casual and creative Austinite. With two locations and loads of interesting exhibits and programs, AMOA is a great cultural destination for students, adults, and even parents and caregivers of young children.

The downtown location is a sleek and modern space, while the Laguna Gloria campus, AMOA’s original home, is housed within a 1916 Italiante villa. The primary home of the AMOA Art School, Laguna Gloria is located on property once owned by Stephen F. Austin, and was the residence of the legendary Clara Driscoll. Overlooking Lake Austin, and with 12 acres of beautiful grounds and gardens, Laguna Gloria is worth a visit purely on historical merit. Both locations have permanent and changing exhibits, and both have space available for private functions.

One of the hallmarks of both AMOA locations is the informal structure and feel. No stuffy, hallowed grounds here instead you find welcoming, easy to navigate floor plans full of surprising and interesting exhibits. You can tour at your own speed, reading the descriptions that are mounted next to each exhibit, or you can book a gallery tour, which are available with different age groups in mind. The compact size of the exhibit space adds to the experience the visitor can spend time with each exhibit, getting more from the experience than one where you rush through to make sure you see it all. The exhibits are right out there something to keep in mind when you bring kids there are no barriers between fast little critters and the actual exhibit.

Still, the AMOA makes a point to be accessible and interesting to children as well. In addition to offering a number of free events for families, the museum has a permanent FamilyLab. The FamilyLab is a fantastic experience for kids of all ages. It is a hands-on, interactive place to make art with creative and colorful items supplied by the museum. They also have children’s books on hand, along with bean bag chairs, in case your little one just needs a cuddle. The mirror tunnel is endlessly fascinating, and all activities in the FamilyLab are offered at no additional cost to museum admission. The second Saturday of every month AMOA offers a reduced admission for families, with art instructors leading families in creating art projects to take home.

AMOA offers art classes for children and adults, with a limited number of scholarships available. Class themes include ArtPlay, ArtABCs, Life Drawing, Watercolor, Children’s Book Illustration, and many, many more. They have for the Art School. They offer periodical education programs for teachers, docents, adults, children, and groups. They offer a myriad of interesting events, sometimes pairing visual arts with music, both for their valued members and for the public. Events include their annual fundraisers, the Art Ball in June, and their fantastically popular international food and wine tasting event, La Dolce Vita. Their museum store offers cups, shirts and other items with their distinctive logo, as well as art-inspired gifts.

Veronica Scott asked:

Those toddlers are just full of energy! Some days it might seem impossible to keep up with them or keep them entertained. There are many fun activities to stimulate those little minds and maybe wear them out for a nap! Here are some ideas for activities for toddlers ages 18 months to three years:

Out and About Activities

? To keep those busy toddlers entertained in the car, as you are driving name things that you see and ask your toddler to point to them. For example, ask them “Where is the tree?” or “Where is the truck?”

? Waiting in the doctor’s office can be a challenge with a toddler. While you are waiting ask your child to walk over to the object you name.

? Before you set out on a car trip, choose a “Color of the Day.” As you’re driving in the car, shopping at the grocery store, or waiting at the doctor’s office, help your toddler point to all the things she sees that match the color you’ve chosen. Help her identify those items.

? A fun and mess-free activity for toddlers to do while in the car or at the grocery store is sandpaper art. Cut various colors of yarn into different lengths. Show your toddler how the yarn sticks to the sandpaper. They can create a design, pull it off, and start over again.

Activities for the Outdoors

? What toddler doesn’t like playing in the mud? Fill a plate with thick mud and smooth into a flat, even surface. Have your child press his open hand into the mud and remove. Place the mud in the sun to dry. This won’t last, but its fun to look at for a while.

? Let them dig for hidden treasure. Hide small objects in the sandbox for your toddler to find as they dig about. Use an old kitchen colander to sift through the sand to help find the treasure.

? If your toddler will stand still long enough, trace their shadow on a big sheet of newsprint or other paper. Let them finger-paint their shadow or color it with crayons or markers. You could also use pavement and sidewalk chalk for this activity.

Rainy Day Indoor Activities

? When you are stripping your beds, give your child the sheets from all the beds you’re changing. They can use them to create houses, tents, forts, or anything else they can dream up. When playtime is over, help your child gather up the sheets and put them in the laundry basket, then take them to the laundry room together.

? Place chairs in a maze around the room. Let your child crawl among them or walk over them, or use them as a train for her stuffed animals.

? Have some fun bowling with your toddler. Line up three or four (or more) empty plastic soda bottles or unopened paper towel rolls. Show your toddler how to roll a large rubber ball to knock them over.

Art and craft is not only meant for children but even many adults have adopted arts and crafts as their hobby. Art and craft provides mental peace to your mind and enhances your inner creativity which usually gets uncovered with other things of life. Being a responsible father or mother you always want your child to enjoy his childhood and to provide him all forms of entertainment. However the intelligent parents will avoid communication mediums like television and video games and will give more emphasis on arts and crafts.

Buying arts and crafts for your child is not a difficult task. There are many sources available but online art and craft store emerges as the best option. This is because if you go to a local store nearby your area then you will only get to see limited collection of art and craft items but online stores provide wide range of art and craft items which gives an opportunity to select the best one suiting your child’s ability and interest.

Convenience is one of the other benefits associated with buying arts and crafts online. Parents usually don’t have enough time to take their child out for shopping so internet acts as the perfect source eliminating limited variety and crowd hassles at local city store.

Online store also helps to buy arts and crafts at cheaper prices as many online stores offers discounts, coupons and festive offers to lure the potential customers. Online buying also gives you an opportunity to compare the prices of arts and crafts available at different online stores to get the best deal at cheaper price.

Earlier online shopping was considered to be costlier because of the shipping costs attached to the items, however now most of the online stores offer free shipping to customers who shop for a certain amount from their store.

Ellie Dixon asked:

Since before history began, storytelling has been a way of passing on a soceity’s traditions and beliefs from one generation to the next - both in written and oral format. Indeed, storytelling is one of the oldest art forms still in existence. It is practised all over the world and in almost every known language there is a word or phrase which means “storyteller.”

An ancient Egyptian papyrus contains the first known reference to storytelling, although early Greek writings also refer to the telling of stories, but without going into details about how the art was practised. Greek and Roman writers are responsible for the word “bard” entering the English language. The term was used to describe someone who related events or told stories and is still current in Ireland and Wales today.

Indian storytellers wandered between villages carrying a large picture cloth called a kalamkari which they spread out to illustrate the story they were telling. In China travelling storytellers visited the homes of the wealthy to entertain them with stories.

There is a rich tradition of storytelling across the continent of Africa, many cultures having a history of long story-poems recited by several hereditary storytellers in each village. In the same way the tribes of North America and the Australian Aborigines have a rich oral tradition with storiees, poems, religious and tribal knowledge, making up a complex culture, all handed down throught the generation by the spoken word.

Storytelling has always been an important means of communicating traditions and maintaining social harmony. The storyteller can vividly convey religious beliefs, “explain” the mysteries of the natural world or transport their listeners into an inner world of fantasy. You may wonder why storytelling continues to be so important in today’s digital society ….

We should continue to tell stories in order to:

- help children learn to listen

- enlarge their vocabularies

- extend their knowledge and understanding of the difference between fact and fantasy

- stimulate their imagination

- inspire them to reach for a book to experience more stories for themselves

- introduce storytelling as a shared, interactive experience between the author, or storyteller, and their audience.

Unlike TV, video, DVD or other electronic media, storytellers are a direct interface between the story and the audience. They can change pace, alter or explain a difficult concept and emphasise, play down, or omit entirely, a particular event, depending upon the needs of those listening.

The storyteller therefore is as important to a largely literate, electronic world as he or she was to a largely illiterate one in times gone by. But if you have been asked to tell a story to a group of youngsters you may be asking yourself … Where do I start? How do I know my story will be interesting and fun?

You may be a nursery or kindergarten teacher, or perhaps be involved with a Playgroup, Bible or other Faith School. Maybe you want some quality personal time with your own children or grandchildren. It’s a rainy afternoon and you’re faced with little expectant faces waiting to be entertained. How do you keep them all enthralled by your tale?

I’ve been there and I know how hard it can be! That’s why I’ve put together a new downloadable book called “How to Tell Stories to Children” together with five books full of great stories to tell. Click here to learn more.

Throughout the years, music has been a common thread that unites generations and had provided social commentary, individual expression, and a soundtrack for life. Music has evolved and changed as time has moved forward, and become, in some cases more of an art, and in other cases, less than one.

Today music has nearly universal appeal - though there are more styles and types of music than ever before, there are also a wider gap in ever between groups who listen to certain types of music. This said, however there are still millions of Americans who consider themselves to have “global musical tastes” meaning that they listen to numerous genres of music on a regular basis instead of focusing their time and attention on only rap, country, or rock and roll.

Concerts in Utah

In Utah, as in most other parts of the country, there are many people who listen to a broad range of music: from Oldies to Emo and from Blues to Hip Hop. These varying tastes in music are reflected in by the concerts in Utah during any given year.

Utah’s concerts range from the biggest names in Hip Hop and Country music to Rock and Roll acts that you might have thought had been dissolved in the 80’s. There seems to be just as much excitement for a Cyndi Lauper or Pretenders reunion tour as for a tour from Snoop Dog or The Foo Fighters. The shear dynamism of Utah concert goers - in age and musical taste makes Utah a “must stop” for most any musical act.

Utah’s concert scene consists of many small venues such as bars and private clubs that host touring acts year round, as well as a few large venues, both indoor and outdoor that host only the larger acts and are only open during certain times of the year - as dictated by sports team schedules and weather.

The varying degrees of concert venues in Utah makes for an additional plus for great musical acts to stop in Utah. There are obviously some acts, while very well received in bars and small venues, that just would not be able to fill a 20,000 seat amphitheater. Thus, the various small venues are perfect for lesser known or up-and coming rock and country acts that are not quite able to fill the bigger venues.

All things considered, Utah has a lot going for it in terms of creating a solid environment for musical acts as well as fans of music from a myriad of genres. As the state continues to grow and become a more mainstream culture, concerts in Utah will continue to be growing attractions.

Mixed Martial Arts

While browsing ESPN, you spot what seems like a boxing match, until suddenly opponents start to kick one another. The next thing you know, the two fighters are on the ground, striking one another. Welcome to the exciting and increasingly popular arena of mixed martial arts (also known as MMA). You may think this is the next wave in martial arts entertainment, but this combat sport has actually been around since the Olympic games in 648 BC.

What to Expect During a Match

Mixed martial arts uses three different phases of fighting - stand-up, clinch and ground. Stand-up fighting incorporates boxing, kickboxing and Muay Thai. Freestyle and Greco-Roman wrestling, Sambo (from Russia), as well as Judo are used in the clinch phase of fighting. The ground phase of fighting is characterized by Brazilian Jui-Jitsu (focuses on positioning), shoot wrestling, catch wrestling, Judo, as well as Sambo.

Fighting techniques that you may encounter during a MMA competition includes kicks, punches, knees, pinning holds, sweeps, takedowns, throws, some elbowing, as well as hand-to-hand combat. A win is typically awarded through the decision of a judge. Matches are timed, therefore, the decision comes after the allotted time has passed. Other circumstances that end a fight include referee stoppage, fight doctor decision, submission, cornerman throwing in the towel and of course, a knockout.

The Mixed Martial Arts of Today

The kind of fighting techniques associated with the mixed martial arts of today deals with a combination of different professional fighting styles. Most commonly, a fighter started training in one specific arena of fighting and later decided to branch off into other styles of combat. The main styles of fighting include sprawl-and-brawl, clinch-and-pound and ground-and-pound.

Sprawl-and-brawl is a stand-up fighting approach that utilizes striking and purposefully avoids fighting on the ground. This type of fighter usually has a strong background in boxing, kickboxing, Muay Thai or karate. To fight in this style, MMA fighters have undergone training in wrestling. Well-known mixed martial artists connected to this approach include Chuck Liddell, Maurice Smith and Phil Barconi.

Clinch-and pound uses clinch fighting tactics characterized by a clinch hold. While a fighter holds an opponent so that they cannot move, they will often strike the body using their knees, or other dirty boxing moves. Most of these fighters started wrestling before incorporating boxing techniques. Don Frye, Dan Henderson and Randy Couture are familiar with this style of fighting.

Ground-and-pound involves the taking down or throwing of an opponent. The next step is to get into the dominant position, attacking with strikes. Wrestlers usually turn to this type of fighting, which has been used by the likes of Mark Coleman, Randy Couture and Tito Ortiz.

Since there are so many different styles of MMA combat associated with mixed martial art, you may think that there is nothing a fighter can do to their opponent. In actuality, there are several fouls connected to this sport. A fighter are not allowed to head-butt, eye gouge, pull the hair, bite, attack the groin or strike the back of the head or kidneys of an opponent.

MMA Organizations

Bringing the exciting world of mixed martial arts fighting to the public are several different organizations that all have their own specific rules and regulations. One of the most well known, the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) - http://www.martialartspride.com - tests their fighters for steroids and other illegal substances before allowing entrance to one of their championship bouts. In this organization, elbow strikes are allowed with the exception of ones that come from the north-south direction. PRIDE Fighting Championships mainly offer two different MMA weight classes (heavyweight and middleweight) and forbids fighters from intentionally hanging an arm or leg on the ropes.

With the ZST, which is an organization based in Japan, there are two five-minute rounds. At the end of a match, a fight is deemed a draw if there was no knockout (KO), technical knockout (TKO) or Submission. MMA judges are not used in this form of fighting. Shooto is another form of combat fighting that presents separate rules and regulations for three different class levels (A, B, and C). Level C is set aside for the amateurs. Three 4-minute rounds are attached to the International Fight League, which uses a different pair of gloves, offering less padding.

Regardless of where or within which mma organization, mixed martial arts madness is sweeping the globe and is coming to a ” cage” near you!
