Mixed Martial Arts is all about using any move or technique learned in basically any martial art to defeat an opponent, therefore it can be difficult to place its exact creation or inception in history. Wrestling is one of its greatest influencers and to the untrained eye, a Mixed Martial Arts competition or match can be mistaken for a modern wrestling match. It was during the late 1800’s that wrestling and boxing became popular and participants such as John L. Sullivan and William Muldoon were well known for some of their no holds barred antics.

Because of this, many people held anything goes matches and more often than not, the wrestler won. In Europe, Jiu Jitsu versus boxing matches were held, and sometimes, it was boxing versus other styles as well. There was definitely a demand for both people who wanted to study Mixed Martial Arts and observers who wanted to watch competitions for sport or show.

Not surprisingly, a major catalyst in the creation of Mixed Martial Arts was the one and only Bruce Lee. History of Blogs

Blogs were first introduced as weblogs that refer to a “server’s log file.” It was created when web logging hit the virtual market. Since its inception in the mid-1990s, web logging gradually saturated the virtual community making the Internet a viable source of greater information.

Origin of the term “weblog” is uncertain. Many point to John Barger in December 1997 when he coined the term on his own blog. 2 years later, Peter Merholz broke “weblog” into a phrase “we blog”, thus giving birth to the word “blog”. Fortuitously, this play on words eventually took off, and “blog” as a short form not only became a household noun, but also as a verb. With the growth of popularity of weblogs, grew the popularity of the word “blog”. Indeed, in March 2003, the Oxford English Dictionary included the terms “weblog,” “weblogging” and “weblogger” in its dictionary. Merriam-Webster’s Dictionary astonishingly declared “blog” as the word of the year in 2004. (Wikinews,2005)

Blogs as a way of expressing yourself

People who are into blogging carefully choose their words to describe their feelings, emotions and experiences. Leo Tolstoy says in his essay “What is art?”: “Art is a human activity consisting in this, that one man consciously, by means of certain external signs, hands on to others feelings he has lived through, and that other people are infected by these feelings and also experience them.”

In a way, bloggers are artists. They create a relationship with their readers, as professional writers and painters do. Blog is own space, their canvas, their book, where they can share their thoughts, feeling, ideas with others, where they can give and receive information.

As with art, you can write anything you want in a blog, but there are thing needed to be taken into account:

• You should make your blog interesting, informative so that it gives rise to readers’ thoughts and feelings.

• Create something beneficial for the readers. Give your blogs some quality content.

• “Simplicity is the final achievement. After one has played a vast quantity of notes and more notes, it is simplicity that emerges as the crowning reward of art.” Frederic Chopin. Avoid being complicated in your blog. The more complicated the blog is – the less it is art.

Blogs as Modern Art

So what is a blog? Is blogging art? Blog is persons own space in the Internet, his orchestra where he conducts his symphonies, his paper where he writes his essays, his canvas where he paints his masterpieces, in a word – his space where he creates. What is the purpose of the Artist? To create, to communicate the concepts of morality.

Unfortunately not every blog can be categorized as art. Blogs must be comprehensible and understandable. If any unintelligible blog or as any incomprehensible expression of though is to be called “art”, then the meaning of “art” will be lost. Blogs must have the form and content which is are unity with the feeling and ideas which they represents. Blogs that shallow, unsophisticated, awkward, artificial, exaggerated, ostentatious, or banal are not art.

Tolstoy suggests that professionalism kills art; it causes the art to become false and insincere. As long as blogs are kept original, personal and sincere they can be described as art, modern art.

“Generally art is a (product of) human activity, made with the intention of stimulating the human senses as well as the human mind; by transmitting emotions and/or ideas”(Wikipedia, 2008). Blog is a great way to implement this activity online.

All in all, blogs are modern art, as long as you keep them personal, original, honest and smart. Blogs are your web space and you have all the tools and ideas to create your own masterpiece!

I have always been a huge martial arts fan. From watching all those cheesy dubbed films from the seventies as a kid, to watching Jackie Chan kick some tail, I have loved it all. I remember thinking, man, wouldn’t that be so great if I could do that stuff? Like fly over some tables and knock the stuffing out of the bad guys? Or take on thirty fighters at once and creamed them easily? How cool is that?

Alas, it was not to be back then. You know how life is, one thing leads to another and then another. You forget about all the crazy little dreams you had as a kid because you have responsibilities as an adult. Don’t we all have them? You have to work. At a real job. Not some fun job where you do what you want but a job that pays the bills. I did it just like most people do.

But get this. I found a great way to follow my dream of being a hard swinging Kung Fu artist by watching these awesome movies. The kung fu style is called Wing Chun and they are something else! I tell you, these are so fun to watch, so thrilling, I can not imagine being without them.

Believe it or not, you can learn everything you need to know about how to fight in martial arts by watching these movie clips. This style is the major southern Chinese style that was perfected by Bruce Lee himself and now it is available to us in the United States. What a wonderful invention the DVD player is! I get to train and focus my energy like I never thought I could. Without these videos and Wing Chun movie clips, I never would have the time or money to learn these techniques.

Going to a local place, a dojo if you will, costs a lot of time and money. Time and money I do not have. What better way to kick some tail than by staying at home and having all the time I need? This is the best way I have ever seen to learn how to master the art of martial combat. The movie clips are easy to watch, fun and entertaining. It may seem too easy, too simple, but in my experience, the best things in life are just that: simple.

I found myself growing stronger and stronger each day as I watched these movie clips. The instructions were easy to understand and easy to follow along. I never felt rushed or under pressure like I might at a fighting studio. It is a great feeling, knowing I am following my dream every time I turn on the TV and start learning Wing Chun martial arts.
